The Labour Party governorship candidate in the Anambra State election, Dr George Moghalu, has raised concerns over reports of vote buying in the ongoing poll.

Moghalu, who voted at Uruagu Ward 1, Nnewi, also expressed worry about the low voter turnout, which he attributed to the public’s lack of confidence in the electoral process.

He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a credible and transparent exercise, noting that it was still too early to assess the overall fairness of the election.

According to him, although the voting process showed improvement compared with previous elections, the alleged monetisation of the process undermined its credibility and discouraged genuine participation.

Moghalu said the growing voter apathy reflected people’s frustration with the system and called on INEC to keep improving to restore trust in elections.
