Senator Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate, has returned to Nigeria after a brief vacation in London, dispelling rumors about his health. He arrived at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, around 4 a.m. on Monday, where he was warmly welcomed by fellow senators, aides, and supporters.
His return follows attendance at the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva from July 29 to 31. After the conference, Akpabio took a short vacation in London, which his office described as necessary for rest.
Upon arrival, Akpabio addressed journalists, denying reports of being critically ill and hospitalized. “There was never a cause for alarm,” he stated, emphasizing that his trip was for rest and official duties.
He assured Nigerians of a vigorous legislative session upon the Senate’s resumption, focusing on development, stability, and effective governance. Akpabio also highlighted Nigeria’s strong presence at the Geneva conference, showcasing the country’s commitment to global parliamentary cooperation.
He plans to resume official duties at the National Assembly later this week.
