Nigeria has been awarded three goals and three points by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the missed game against Libya.
The decision follows CAF President Patrice Motsepe’s announcement that a comprehensive investigation was underway in the wake of the recent issue surrounding Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match versus Libya.
According to Motsepe, the continental federation would not put up with any unfair treatment or lack of sportsmanship in African football.
According to a statement signed by Ousmane Kane, CAF’s Chairperson of the CAF Disciplinary Board on Saturday, the decision to give Nigeria the points, was made after the CAF disciplinary committee found Libya guilty of the cruel treatment of the Super Eagles.
The Libyan Football Federation was additionally penalised by the Confederation of African Football’s Disciplinary Board for the Super Eagles’ hardship.
