Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has inaugurated the newly elected local government chairmen and councillors following Saturday’s poll. In his address during the swearing-in ceremony in Osogbo, Adeleke emphasized the importance of good governance and warned against any attempts to forcibly occupy council secretariats.

The governor expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for resisting efforts to destabilize Osun State. He described the event as a significant milestone in the state’s democratic process, highlighting that the election was conducted in accordance with legal procedures.

Adeleke called for a minute of silence in honor of those who lost their lives during what he termed the “illegal APC takeover of local government secretariats.” He reiterated that the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission had duly followed all legal protocols leading to the election of the new officials.

Addressing the newly sworn-in officials, Adeleke urged them to be “agents of change” and deliver the dividends of democracy in their local governments. He encouraged them to develop actionable plans aligned with the manifesto of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and assured the people of Osun of his commitment to their welfare.

The governor also warned the new officials to avoid confrontation at local government secretariats, referencing ongoing legal processes to resolve the leadership crisis. He assured them that his administration would rely on the judiciary to address any illegal occupations of the secretariats.

In closing, Adeleke formally declared the swearing-in of the elected local government officials, wishing them success in their new roles.
