The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and federal government officials to shift their focus from early campaigning for re-election to addressing the significant challenges facing the nation. In a recent statement, the ACF highlighted the urgent need to tackle issues such as insecurity, rising living costs, and crises in key sectors like energy, health, and education.
The ACF raised alarms about increasing threats to safety and stability across the country, as well as the harsh economic conditions affecting everyday Nigerians. The organization also pointed to ongoing difficulties in the energy, health, and education sectors, alongside the weakening of the Nigerian currency and soaring food prices.
Criticism was directed at the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for prioritizing early campaign efforts instead of addressing these pressing issues. The ACF emphasized that such a focus reflects a deeper malaise within the political economy that requires immediate public policy attention.
At a recent national summit, APC leaders, including all 22 governors and members of the National Assembly, endorsed Tinubu as the party’s candidate for the 2027 elections. However, the ACF insisted that the government should prioritize governance and the welfare of its citizens over political maneuvers and re-election strategies.
