The national leadership of the Accord Party has disowned an alleged parallel governorship primary conducted in Osun State, describing it as a “charade” orchestrated by political hirelings to undermine Nigeria’s democratic process.
In a press release issued by its National Secretariat, signed by national publicity secretary Joseph Omorogbe, Accord claimed the purported primary election was staged by “fun-seeking fellows” sponsored by opposition figures unsettled by the emergence of Governor Ademola Adeleke as the party’s flag bearer.
The party stated that the exercise was swiftly disowned by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which declared it null and void, stressing that the electoral body was unaware of any such primary. Accord insisted that it would not waste energy responding to what it termed frivolities from “jokers and political nomads,” focusing instead on governance. The party emphasized that Governor Adeleke, described as a compassionate leader, is committed to delivering dividends of democracy to the people of Osun State and will not be distracted by opposition antics.
