The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has sharply criticised both the federal and state governments following a renewed wave of deadly bandit attacks that claimed lives and left several residents injured in the state.

In a strongly worded statement issued on Saturday, the PDP described the attacks in Kagara and Ugom communities—located in Giwa and Kajuru Local Government Areas—as “tragic” and indicative of “a persistent failure of governance.”

According to the party, the attacks between June 4 and 6 resulted in the deaths of two residents, identified as Salisu Aminu and Stephen Alhassan, who were described as respected members of their communities. Several others reportedly sustained injuries during the assaults.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wish the injured a speedy recovery,” said PDP State Chairman Edward Masha. “These senseless killings are unacceptable and must stop.”

The opposition party slammed the administration of Governor Uba Sani for what it called “inexcusable inaction” in the face of escalating insecurity. It accused the state’s Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs of being “alarmingly dormant” and called for a complete overhaul of the state’s security strategy.

“The APC-led government in Kaduna must act decisively. The Ministry of Internal Security must be reactivated to work in tandem with federal security agencies and forestall further bloodshed,” the statement added.

The PDP also urged the State Emergency Management Agency and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to provide immediate assistance to affected families.

Reaffirming its commitment to the safety and welfare of Kaduna residents, the PDP pledged to hold the ruling party accountable and encouraged citizens to stay calm and hopeful as the 2027 general elections approach.
