The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has denied claims from the Nigerian Army about recovering a significant amount of money from a camp allegedly run by the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Abia State. IPOB’s spokesperson, Comrade Emma Powerful, called the reports false and misleading, asserting that ESN does not maintain cash reserves or camps in the mentioned area.
The Nigerian Army had claimed to recover N11 million and $21,000 during an operation. In response, IPOB stated that ESN operatives are community defenders funded through contributions and do not operate with large sums of money. They emphasized that any funds would be invested in community development projects rather than held as cash.
IPOB urged the public to critically assess unverified claims and highlighted the need for genuine security measures across the country. The statement concluded by calling for professionalism and objectivity from security agencies in their communications.
