Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has condemned the murder of Ifeanyi Iloakasia, a lawyer and President General of the Aguleri community. Iloakasia was shot and killed by unidentified assailants on Thursday, May 15, near the Agulu-Nanka boundary while returning home from a court session.
In a press statement released by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, Soludo described the act as “senseless” and “unfortunate,” assuring that the government is committed to collaborating with security agencies to apprehend the assailants and deliver justice swiftly.
The statement emphasized Soludo’s condolences to Iloakasia’s family, friends, and the Aguleri community, mourning the loss of a dedicated advocate for peace.
Soludo acknowledged public concerns regarding safety but reassured residents that the state government is taking the situation seriously. He also praised the bravery of security operatives who recently thwarted an attack on a checkpoint in Isuofia, though one officer lost their life during the encounter.
The governor urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security forces as efforts continue to combat violence in the state.
