Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), recently inaugurated the new executive committee for the party’s France Chapter in Paris. During the event, he urged all members of the diaspora to support President Bola Tinubu’s reforms and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Ganduje emphasized the importance of unity among party members abroad, highlighting their crucial role in bolstering the administration’s economic transformation efforts. He acknowledged that while the reforms initiated by President Tinubu may be challenging, they are essential for repositioning Nigeria’s economy for sustainable growth.
The APC chairman praised the diaspora for their active recruitment and mobilization efforts, noting their contribution to expanding the party’s base internationally. He reiterated the party’s commitment to collaborating with the National Assembly to achieve the long-sought goal of enabling diaspora voting, which would ensure full political inclusion for Nigerians living abroad.
“We appreciate you for holding the banner of our party and supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly amid the critical reforms being implemented,” Ganduje stated, referencing increased funding for capital development that benefits governors and local governments.
Ganduje also shared insights from recent party meetings, including the National Caucus and the National Executive Committee (NEC), which expressed strong support for the President’s performance. A vote of confidence was passed on President Tinubu, recognizing his significant reforms, especially in the economic sector.
Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Ganduje expressed optimism about the APC’s prospects, citing internal stability and the defection of key political figures from other parties. He pointed out that the APC is currently enjoying peace, unlike other parties facing internal crises, and this conducive environment is attracting new members.
Amina Musa Baba Suzuki, the newly inaugurated chairlady of the APC France Chapter, emphasized the dual role of the Nigerian diaspora as both economic contributors and political stakeholders. She advocated for stronger support for diaspora chapters, highlighting their vital role in promoting Nigeria’s interests abroad.
Suzuki passionately appealed to Ganduje and the APC leadership to champion the cause of diaspora voting, asserting its necessity for political inclusion. “Under your visionary leadership, we believe diaspora voting can become a reality,” she concluded.
