Residents across Ondo, Benue, and Nasarawa states are in shock following a series of deadly attacks attributed to suspected armed herders, resulting in at least 30 fatalities. The violence has sparked widespread protests and calls for immediate government action.

In Ondo State, nine surveyors were kidnapped, and several villagers were killed in Akure North Local Government Area. Angered by these events, women protested in Akure, demanding the release of their loved ones and calling for increased security measures. The kidnappers reportedly demanded a ransom of N100 million.

In Benue State, protests erupted in Naka after three local security operatives were ambushed and killed. The outrage led to the burning of the local government secretariat and the traditional ruler’s palace by angry youths.

Meanwhile, Nasarawa State witnessed a communal clash that left seven dead, including a pregnant woman. The conflict escalated from a dispute between local farmers and herders.

Security forces are responding with increased patrols, and efforts are underway to arrest those responsible for the violence. Local leaders, including Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue, have condemned the killings, urging calm and cooperation with security agencies.

In Edo State, the situation remains tense as armed herders attacked some resettlements, resulting in injuries and abductions.

The ongoing violence highlights the urgent need for effective government intervention and community protection measures across these affected regions.
