The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of 11 suspects during a raid at the White Hill Hotel located along Shiroro Road in Minna, Niger State. This operation, described by the EFCC as “professional,” took place on February 27, 2025, and was aimed at individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud, commonly referred to as “yahoo boys.”
Initially, reports indicated that 10 guests were arrested, but the EFCC later clarified that the number of arrests was actually 11. The suspects were reportedly taken to the EFCC’s office in Kaduna for further investigation.
The EFCC’s spokesman, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the operation and emphasized that it was conducted without any elements of abduction, countering claims that bandits had disguised themselves as EFCC officials to kidnap hotel guests. However, specific details regarding the charges against the suspects have not been disclosed, and the agency has refrained from commenting further on their current status.
This incident highlights ongoing efforts by the EFCC to combat financial crimes in Nigeria, particularly in areas plagued by internet fraud.
