His Royal Highness Friday Ehizojie, the traditional ruler of Udo-Eguare in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, has been kidnapped. Reports indicate that he was abducted in a forest area between Ubiaja, near the rest house junction and Udo community.
The assailants reportedly ambushed the traditional ruler while fatally shooting an Okada rider before carrying out the kidnapping. Sources reveal that five other individuals were also taken hostage, although one person managed to escape.
Moses Yamu, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, confirmed the incident, noting that they received reports regarding the kidnapping, which included the Onogie of Udo-Eguare and a 21-year-old man. Yamu explained that the traditional ruler was a passenger on a motorcycle when the ambush occurred.
In response, the Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, has ordered the immediate deployment of tactical teams, including the Police Mobile Force, to facilitate the rescue of the victims and apprehend the perpetrators. The Area Commander is personally overseeing the operation as directed by the Commissioner of Police.
