The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration of secretly obtaining loans, urging the governor to publicly disclose the state’s financial records. The party claims that the resources of the state are being mismanaged for personal gain, exacerbating the suffering of the masses.

During a year-end press conference in Osogbo, APC’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, alleged that the state government is signing off on foreign loans totaling $51 million (approximately N81.6 billion). He warned that the Adeleke administration is jeopardizing the state’s financial future and called on the people of Osun to hold the governor accountable.

The APC refuted claims that the administration has not taken on any loans since it began, asserting that part of the 2024 budget is being financed through the NG-CARES facility.

In response, Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson for Governor Adeleke, dismissed the allegations as “fake news,” insisting that no loan approvals have been made during the current administration.

“As a member of the executive council from the start, I can confirm that no loan approval requests have been made for any projects. This is false information that the APC continues to spread. The people of Osun are discerning and educated—they know when their government is borrowing,” Rasheed stated.

He also strongly denied any claims that the state has secured foreign loans under the NG-CARES initiative.
