During a lively session on Wednesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu humorously declared that members of the 10th National Assembly were “all reelected.”
This playful remark followed his slip of the tongue as he referred to the assembly as the 11th while presenting the 2025 budget to a joint session of lawmakers.
The light-hearted moment unfolded as Tinubu was corrected by several legislators, captured in a now-viral video clip lasting just over a minute.
Upon arriving at the National Assembly to present the substantial N47.96 trillion budget, Tinubu expressed, “In fulfillment of one of my constitutional duties and with an unyielding commitment to rebuilding Nigeria towards ensuring that we remain steadfast on a journey to a prosperous future, I hereby present the 2025 budget to the joint session of the 11th National Assembly.”
However, the legislators quickly reminded him of their actual designation. With a smile, Tinubu remarked, “10th? I wrote 11th, which means you’re all re-elected!”
