Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, saying she has chosen to stay out of politics.
Abraham made the clarification after her name appeared on a list of members of the party’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The actress reacted on Thursday, September 17, shortly after the campaign council list was released, using her Instagram Story to distance herself from the political structure.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote.
Her name appeared alongside veteran actor Jide Kosoko, actresses Eniola Badmus and Bimbo Akintola, and Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Abass Akande Obesere and Adewale Ayuba.
Toke Benson-Awoyinka was listed as Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, while Kosoko was named Co-Director and Badmus Deputy Director. Akeem Alimi, popularly known as Ajala Jalingo, was listed as Secretary, with Dare Olateju named Assistant Secretary.
Other entertainment personalities listed include Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, Fathia Balogun, Yinka Quadri, Tayo Sobola, Abiola Adebayo, Remi Oshodi, Foluke Daramola and Kikelomo Balogun.
Several musicians were also included in the directorate, among them Malaika, Osupa and Small Doctor. The wider Lagos APC campaign council comprises various directorates and committees responsible for political mobilisation and campaign activities.
Abraham previously expressed support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election. However, her latest statement indicates that she does not want her reported inclusion in the Lagos APC campaign council to be interpreted as her current participation in the party’s campaign structure.
The actress did not explain why her name appeared on the list but maintained that she is not a member of any campaign council and urged the public to disregard the reported inclusion.
