Tension is rising in Bauchi as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) makes a dramatic appeal to Governor Bala Mohammed to stay put and resist any move to defect, even as political uncertainty thickens ahead of 2027.
The party’s Bauchi spokesman, Mannasseh Marti, downplayed talk of internal crisis, declaring the PDP strong, united, and battle-ready to retain power—whether the governor stays or walks away.
“Bauchi is PDP territory,” Marti insisted, boasting that the party has transformed lives and still commands massive grassroots loyalty since 2019.
Despite swirling rumours of a possible exit, the PDP is urging the governor to rethink his next move, reminding him that the party gave him the platform to rise.
But in a bold twist, the party also issued a subtle warning:
Even if Bala Mohammed leaves, “the flag may dip briefly—but it will rise again before 2027.”
Marti admitted internal disagreements but dismissed them as routine political “tests,” insisting all crises have now been resolved and the party is free of litigation and focused on victory.
He also cautioned that defecting may not guarantee political comfort, hinting that the governor could face even tougher battles outside the PDP.
With the shadow of key figures like Nyesom Wike looming over party dynamics, the unfolding drama signals a high-stakes power play that could reshape Bauchi’s political future.
