The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) interpretation of a Court of Appeal ruling concerning its ongoing leadership dispute.
In a statement, the party’s spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, accused INEC of acting under pressure and taking sides in the matter. He insisted that the commission’s position does not reflect the true meaning of the court’s decision.
INEC had earlier removed the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its portal as recognised leaders of the party.
Reacting, the ADC described the move as inconsistent and said the commission’s statement contained contradictions. The party also alleged that the action was influenced by external forces and warned that it would challenge the decision.
The ADC said it is currently reviewing its options and urged its members to remain calm while awaiting further directives.
