Tension has resurfaced in Jos following the relaxation of a curfew imposed by the Plateau State Government after recent violence in the area.

The curfew was initially introduced after gunmen attacked residents of Angwan Rukuba, leaving about 28 people dead. The government later adjusted the restriction to allow movement between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily.

However, shortly after the relaxation took effect, reports emerged of renewed attacks by hoodlums in different parts of the city, causing panic among residents and commuters.

In some areas, including the University of Jos axis, Bauchi Road, Terminus, Farin Gada, Tina Junction, and Chobe, motorists and pedestrians were reportedly attacked, with several vehicles damaged during the incidents.

A young man was also reportedly killed near the road leading to the University of Jos permanent site after being attacked by hoodlums, further heightening fear in the area.

The situation disrupted normal activities, with many businesses shutting down and banks in affected areas closing operations as residents stayed indoors to avoid further attacks.

Residents have called on security agencies to increase their presence and ensure the safety of lives and property, while authorities say efforts are ongoing to restore calm and maintain order in the city.
