A Federal High Court in Kaduna has ordered that former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, remain in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission pending the hearing of his bail application.
Justice Rilwanu Aikawa adjourned the bail hearing to April 14 after listening to arguments from both the defence and the prosecution during proceedings held on April 1.
El-Rufai was arraigned on a 10-count charge bordering on alleged conversion of public property and money laundering. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against him.
The court directed that he should remain in ICPC custody until the bail application is determined on the adjourned date.
He was reported to have arrived at the court premises around 9:00 a.m. in a black Hilux vehicle, accompanied by Department of State Services officials.
The case is expected to continue when the court resumes hearing on the bail application.
