Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is set to officially join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday, March 30, 2026.

This was announced by the Kwankwasiyya Movement in a statement, confirming that the former Kano governor will register with the party at his residence in Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Kano, by 12 p.m.

The development has sparked reactions across Nigeria’s political space. The Kwankwasiyya Movement also directed its members nationwide to immediately register with the ADC at their ward, local government, and state levels.

Speaking on the decision, the movement’s spokesperson, Habibu Sale Mohammed, said the move is aimed at strengthening democracy and promoting inclusive leadership.

According to him, the decision reflects the group’s commitment to good governance and the welfare of Nigerians. He added that democracy must be protected and the will of the people respected at all times.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement, known for its strong base in Kano State, has long been tied to Kwankwaso’s leadership. His planned defection to the ADC is expected to reshape political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.

Members of the movement have also been urged to actively participate in party activities and contribute to the growth of the ADC across all levels.

Political observers believe the move could significantly influence Nigeria’s political landscape as preparations for the next general elections gather momentum.
