A group of Northern youths has called on presidential aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections to prioritise the welfare of the region.
The group’s president, Abdul Danbature, said Northern youths play a decisive role in determining Nigeria’s president and would no longer accept inducements such as food items in exchange for votes.
According to him, as the 2027 elections approach, the youths will mobilise in large numbers to endorse a preferred candidate.
He warned politicians against taking the region for granted, stressing that the era of vote-buying with items like rice and noodles is over.
Danbature added that Northern youths expect serious commitments from candidates, including the dredging of the River Niger and River Benue, as well as the establishment of a seaport in Northern Nigeria to address unemployment challenges.
