In a recent statement, Onochie Osheokwu, the Regional Colligate Coordinator of the Obidient Movement for the South-South, has called for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to allocate its presidential ticket to the southern region ahead of the 2027 general elections. This appeal reflects a growing sentiment among political factions as they gear up for the upcoming elections.

Osheokwu made his remarks on Arise Television, asserting that the ADC should recognize the potential of southern candidates, specifically pointing out the capability of Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate from the Southeast. He emphasized, “We in the South-South want the ADC to zone its presidential ticket to the South,” highlighting that the southern region has viable candidates who resonate with the aspirations of the Nigerian populace.

He further critiqued the political environment, claiming it has devolved into propaganda rather than focusing on essential issues. “What happened at Chief John Odigie-Oyegun was a consultation,” he noted, indicating a need for genuine political engagement rather than superficial dialogue.
