President Tinubu Welcomes Launch of Lebara Nigeria, Praises Telecom Growth

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his support for the official launch of Lebara Nigeria, calling it a significant endorsement of Nigeria’s digital economy and its potential to become a leading hub for technology and investment in Africa.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu congratulated the company, noting that their entry into the Nigerian market signifies confidence in the country’s economic prospects. He highlighted the telecommunications sector’s vital role in the economy, citing a growth rate of 5.78% in Q3 2025 and its contribution of over 14% to the national GDP.

The President recognized the efforts of Lebara Nigeria’s leadership, including CEO Teniola Stuffman, for their commitment to expanding telecom access and enhancing Nigeria’s digital infrastructure. He emphasized that such investments are essential for promoting financial inclusion, fostering innovation, and accelerating economic growth.

Moreover, Tinubu acknowledged the support from the British High Commission, which underscores the strong economic ties between Nigeria and the UK. He expressed optimism about the job creation and enterprise development that initiatives like Lebara bring to the nation.

As Lebara Nigeria commences its operations, the President reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a stable and investment-friendly environment to encourage innovation and private enterprise growth.
