Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has urged Nigerians to be vigilant during the upcoming 2027 general elections, emphasizing that every vote must count. In a post titled “Our Votes Must Count,” he called on citizens to remain at polling stations after voting to oversee the counting and transmission of results.

Obi’s message highlighted the importance of public participation in safeguarding democracy. He warned that any attempt to undermine the electoral process should be met with accountability, stating, “Those who refuse to allow the votes to count will face legal consequences.”

He reinforced his commitment to ensuring transparency in the electoral process and insisted that anyone obstructing it would be considered culpable in undermining Nigeria’s democratic future.

As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has already released the election schedule, with presidential and National Assembly elections set for February 20, 2027, and governorship polls on March 6, Obi’s call for vigilance resonates strongly in the lead-up to these crucial dates.
