The Tanimu Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its intention to appeal a recent rulings by a Federal High Court in Ibadan that nullified its National Convention. The court denied the party’s request for an order of mandamus, stating that such an order would effectively amount to an appeal over judgments made by courts of equivalent authority.
In a statement issued by Comrade Ini Ememobong, the National Publicity Secretary, the party reassured its members that it remains “legally intact and unshaken” amidst the court’s decision. The Turaki-led leadership, which was established during the contested convention, emphasized its commitment to advancing its legal arguments through the appellate courts.
Ememobong stated:
“Notwithstanding this judgment, our party remains firmly on course. We urge our members to stay resolute and committed; there is absolutely no cause for alarm.”
The PDP also reiterated that its Rebirth Movement continues to progress, encouraging members as they navigate through these challenges.
