The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed the circulation of a forged party membership card allegedly belonging to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji. Party spokesman Yusuf Idris labeled the card a malicious attempt to damage the reputation of the APC.
In a statement, Idris explained that the fraudulent card prominently displayed Turji’s name and image, misleadingly suggesting he was a registered party member. He dismissed the forgery as amateurish, pointing out clear discrepancies such as an incorrect membership number format and the date “26,” which does not correspond to Zamfara.
Idris emphasized that without a National Identification Number, which Turji lacks, effective registration into the party is impossible. He stated that even the registration process requires personal identification that a known criminal could not provide.
Further investigations linked the forgery to Babangida Aliyu Shinkafi, an associate of Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, who had recently been suspended from the e-registration process due to questionable actions. The APC has distanced itself from the fake card, urging citizens to disregard it while affirming that the matter has been reported to security agencies for further action.
Idris reaffirmed the integrity of the APC’s ongoing membership registration campaign, calling on the public to remain vigilant against such deceptive tactics.
