The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced plans to resume its Total, Indefinite, and Complete Strike (TICS 2.0) starting Monday, January 12, 2026, at 12:00 a.m.

The association had previously suspended its indefinite strike on November 29, 2025, after 29 days of industrial action, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Government.

In a statement released on X, NARD President Dr. Mohammad Suleiman explained that the renewed strike is intended to press home unresolved welfare demands, following resolutions from the Emergency National Executive Council meeting held on Friday.

The industrial action, tagged “No Implementation, No Going Back,” will include centre-based protests across hospitals nationwide from January 12 to January 16, 2026, followed by regional and national demonstrations if demands remain unmet.

NARD’s outstanding demands include:
Reinstatement of five resident doctors at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja.

Payment of promotion and salary arrears, including full implementation of the professional allowance table.

Clarification on entry-level and skipping issues by the Federal Ministry of Health.

Reintroduction of specialist allowances, resolution of house officers’ salary delays, and issuance of pay advisories.

Resumption of the Collective Bargaining Agreement process, locum and work-hours regulation committees, and proper issuance of membership certificates after Part I examinations.

The association emphasized that the one-week lead time before the strike is to allow congress meetings, media engagement, and statutory notifications to security agencies and hospital management.

NARD urged all stakeholders to remain patient and supportive, emphasizing that the safety and welfare of doctors remain a key priority.
