Gunmen attacked Bong village in Doemak District, Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State on Friday night, killing seven people and injuring several others, eyewitnesses told
Residents described the assailants as heavily armed and said they went house to house, targeting women, children, and the elderly. Survivors noted that most victims were those unable to escape in time.
A local resident, Mr. Lawrence Dogari, confirmed the attack, saying, “Over seven persons have been killed, while some are still missing.” Danaan Cletus Sylvanus, Director of Press and Publicity to the Executive Chairman of Qua’an-Pan LGA, also confirmed the incident but said the total number of fatalities could not yet be ascertained.
Sylvanus added, “The council chairman, Hon. Christopher Audu Manship, condemns this attack on innocent citizens and is working with security operatives to apprehend the culprits. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
The spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, did not respond to calls seeking comment.
This latest attack follows a similar incident on Christmas Eve, when gunmen killed seven people in the Bum community, Jos South LGA.
Residents of the affected communities continue to live in fear as security agencies intensify efforts to restore peace and apprehend those responsible for the attacks.
