Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has emphasized that simply joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) or expressing loyalty to President Bola Tinubu does not guarantee a second term for political officeholders. His remarks came during a political event in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he reiterated the importance of clearly defined political agreements and commitment.

Wike cautioned that genuine political relevance is secured through strategic decisions and consistent loyalty, rather than mere post-election alignment with the ruling party. He underscored the need for the Ikwerre ethnic nationality to maintain its influence in Nigeria’s political landscape, warning against complacency and the risks of political marginalization.

The former governor of Rivers State also highlighted that declaring support for President Tinubu does not equate to an automatic pathway to re-election. His statements reflect a broader sentiment that loyalty in politics must be backed by structured commitments and fulfilled promises.

During his visit, Wike was welcomed by local leaders, reinforcing their support for his political direction and that of President Tinubu. Observers note that Wike’s engagements are part of a strategy to consolidate his political base in anticipation of the upcoming electoral cycle in Rivers State, hinting at potential political realignments and tensions ahead.
