Abia State Governor Alex Otti has denied having presidential, vice presidential, or senatorial ambitions after his time as governor is over. Otti made these comments in Umuahia while responding to a viral video criticizing his visit to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who is jailed in Sokoto. The video suggested Otti was using Kanu’s case to further his own political aspirations.

Otti clarified that his visit to Kanu was motivated by a commitment to peace and dialogue, as Kanu is from his state. He stated that he had initiated discussions on Kanu’s case at the highest level prior to his visit. Otti also mentioned that he had condemned Operation Python Dance in the past and affirmed that he does not support the disintegration of Nigeria.

He emphasized the importance of political officeholders knowing when to quit, expressing his intention to retire and make way for younger individuals after his governorship.
