The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public alert regarding the recall of Indomie Vegetable Flavour Noodles due to the presence of undeclared milk and eggs allergens. These allergens pose significant health risks to consumers with allergies or intolerances.

In Public Alert No. 041/2025, dated December 18, 2025, NAFDAC disclosed that the recall was initiated by Rappel Conso of France, following laboratory findings that confirmed the presence of allergens not listed on the product label. The recall affects all batches of the Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles with a best-before date of February 6, 2026.

NAFDAC stated that, although the risk of these products entering Nigeria is low due to the Federal Government’s ban on noodle imports, heightened vigilance is essential to prevent illicit entry or circulation of the affected brand. The agency noted that Indomie noodles are popular due to their affordability and convenience, but the undeclared components could trigger severe allergic reactions in vulnerable consumers.

To mitigate risks, NAFDAC has activated nationwide vigilance measures. Zonal directors and state coordinators have been instructed to intensify surveillance and seize any recalled product found within Nigeria.

Consumers, retailers, and distributors are advised to exercise caution and avoid selling or consuming the recalled noodles. If the product is encountered, it should be discarded immediately. The public is encouraged to report sightings or suspected sales of the recalled noodles to the nearest NAFDAC office or via the agency’s toll-free line at 0800-162-3322. Additionally, adverse reactions related to the product should be reported through NAFDAC’s offices or its e-reporting platforms.
