Three young Nigerians from Abia State have departed the country for China to commence their postgraduate studies after securing fully sponsored scholarships under the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC), facilitated by the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation.
The beneficiaries include:
Sunny O. Idika from Ohafor Ward, Ohafia LGA, admitted for an MBA programme at Zhejiang Normal University, Jinhua.
Emmanuel Iheakachukwu Odoemelam from Eziama Agbo Ward, Nneato, Umunneochi LGA, pursuing a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT).
Kingsley Onwukwe Orji from Igbere Ward A, Bende LGA, also admitted for an MBA programme at Zhejiang Normal University, Jinhua.
The scholarship package covers tuition, accommodation, health insurance, and monthly stipends, allowing the awardees to focus fully on their academic pursuits.
Speaking on the development, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu expressed delight over the beneficiaries’ departure, stressing that education remains a cornerstone for national growth and personal advancement.
“I am delighted that through the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation, we are able to give these bright young men the opportunity to further their studies in China. Education is the greatest investment we can make in our youth, and I am committed to ensuring that our people have access to platforms that will make them globally competitive. This is part of our ongoing effort to empower our constituents and build a future anchored on knowledge and innovation,” the former Abia governor stated.
The initiative underscores the foundation’s commitment to supporting educational advancement and human capital development among Nigerian youths.
