The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) have successfully repatriated 51 foreign nationals convicted of cybercrime and internet fraud. This group includes 50 Chinese nationals and one Tunisian.

This operation, which took place on Thursday, marks a significant step in the ongoing effort to tackle foreign-led cybercrime in Nigeria. Since the initiative began on August 15, 2025, a total of 102 foreign nationals have been deported.

The repatriation followed a sting operation in Lagos that targeted one of the largest foreign cybercrime syndicates operating in Nigeria. The EFCC stated that this action demonstrates their commitment to ensuring that Nigeria is not a haven for international criminals.

The EFCC emphasized that the successful conviction and repatriation of these individuals sends a strong message against the misuse of Nigeria’s digital space for illicit activities that threaten the economy and national security. Further deportations are expected to occur in the coming days as the exercise continues.
