Paul Ibe, media adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has refuted claims that Atiku is planning to run for president again in 2027. This clarification follows the circulation of a video on social media where Atiku purportedly discusses making a “formal announcement” regarding his political aspirations.
Ibe stated that the video is old, recorded prior to the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primaries. He emphasized that the assertive tone in the footage was typical for a candidate preparing for an election.
“It is important to provide context to this video to prevent misinterpretation,” Ibe said, urging the public to disregard the misleading reports.
Atiku, who served as Nigeria’s Vice President from 1999 to 2007, is currently facing scrutiny as political speculation intensifies in the lead-up to the next electoral cycle.
