Former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has resisted attempts by prosecutors to interrogate him by lying on the floor of his prison cell in his underwear. This incident occurred as prosecutors sought to enforce a newly issued arrest warrant related to allegations of election tampering.

Prosecutor Oh Jeong-hee reported that Yoon refused to cooperate, stating, “The suspect refused arrest while lying on the floor without wearing his prison-issued clothing.” Due to safety concerns, physical force was withheld, and the enforcement of the warrant was temporarily suspended.

Yoon, who was arrested after attempting to impose martial law in December, faces multiple charges, including insurrection and election tampering. His legal team criticized the prosecutors for what they described as a “disturbing disregard” for human decency, particularly regarding the public disclosure of his clothing during the incident.

The South Korean justice minister expressed embarrassment over Yoon’s behavior, noting that he had removed his prison uniform during the encounter. The minister assured that Yoon would be treated with dignity in light of his former position.

Yoon’s lawyers have stated that he suffers from several health conditions, which they claim make it difficult for him to fully cooperate with the investigation.
