16 Dead As Military Jet Crashes Into Dhaka School, 100 Injured

A tragic incident occurred in Dhaka, Bangladesh, when a military training jet crashed into Milestone School and College, resulting in at least 16 confirmed deaths and over 100 injuries. The aircraft, an F-7 BGI fighter trainer, crashed in the Uttara suburb, igniting a massive fire and sending thick smoke into the air.

The Bangladesh Air Force confirmed that the aircraft took off at 1:06 PM local time before the crash. Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, where chaos ensued as students, teachers, and residents evacuated for safety. Many victims were treated for burn injuries and trauma at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Muhammad Yunus, leader of Bangladesh’s interim government, assured the public of a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash and pledged support for the victims and their families. He stated, “Necessary measures will be taken to investigate the cause of the incident and ensure all kinds of assistance.”

The area has been sealed off as military investigators prepare to conduct their inquiry. This crash marks one of the deadliest peacetime military aviation disasters in Bangladesh’s recent history. The names of the victims have not yet been released.
