Four people have been confirmed dead following the collapse of a three-storey building on Abedi Street in the Sabon Gari area of Kano State. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening after heavy rainfall, which led to the structural failure and trapped several occupants under the rubble.
Saminu Yusif, spokesperson for the Kano State Fire Service, reported that two individuals sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Murtala Specialist Hospital, while nine others suffered minor injuries.
As of now, rescue teams have successfully saved 15 people from the debris. The ongoing rescue operation involves firefighters, as well as personnel from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the police.
Authorities continue to carefully search the collapsed structure, with concerns that more individuals may still be trapped inside.
