The Taraba State House of Assembly is reportedly preparing to declare Deputy Governor Alhaji Aminu Alkari incapacitated due to his prolonged illness. The assembly has collected medical reports to support this decision.
It is anticipated that Governor Agbu Kefas will propose the current Deputy Speaker, Hon. Hamman Adama Abdulahi, as Alkari’s successor. The assembly is scheduled to convene on June 25, 2025, to address this matter.
However, Hon. Emmanuel Bello, the special adviser on media and digital communication, has dismissed these claims, stating, “No one nominated anyone to be Deputy Governor to Dr. Agbu Kefas! Disregard any fake news.”
Despite this denial, it has been reported that the governor has formed a medical team to evaluate Alkari’s health condition, which has seen him seeking treatment since November 2024 in locations including Abuja and Saudi Arabia.
The situation remains fluid, with the assembly expected to discuss the implications and next steps regarding the deputy governor’s health.
