Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has condemned the brutal killing of two Kano State indigenes in the Agan community of Makurdi. The victims, who were transporting goods, were attacked late Monday night after stopping to buy a recharge card.
In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Kula Tersoo, Alia labeled the act as “barbaric and unacceptable,” and called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
The statement confirmed that five suspects have already been apprehended by the police following the governor’s directive. Alia expressed deep sadness over the incident, highlighting that the people of Benue are known for their hospitality.
“We cannot allow some criminal elements to tarnish our image. These criminals MUST be fished out and made to face the full wrath of the law,” he stated.
Alia extended his condolences to Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, assuring him that justice would prevail.
