Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has requested the Federal Government and military authorities to deploy soldiers to Borno border communities such as Kirawa, Wulgo, Baga, Damasak, and Malam Fatori, citing their economic importance.

Zulum made the appeal on Friday during a visit to Kirawa community, Gwoza local government area, to sympathize with community members following an attack on Monday night where Boko Haram terrorists killed two people and burnt houses.

During his visit, the governor promised to rebuild burnt houses and the dispensary, upgrading it to a general hospital, and consider compensating affected victims.

Zulum stated that after meeting with the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, and the Force Commander Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), they agreed to deploy soldiers to Kirawa soon. He expressed regret that his previous requests for troop deployment to protect these communities did not receive the desired attention.
