Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has responded to Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed’s claims of witch-hunting by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Mohammed alleged that Wike was behind the EFCC’s terrorism financing charges against his Commissioner of Finance, Yakubu Adamu.
During a rally in Rivers State, Wike mockingly addressed the accusations, questioning why Mohammed would blame him for his troubles if he believed Wike had such power. “If you know I have such power, why are you fighting?,” Wike stated, referring to Mohammed’s political challenges.
Wike criticized Mohammed for imposition attempts during party leadership discussions, warning him against potential crises. He dismissed the idea that he was responsible for the EFCC’s actions, urging Mohammed to clear his name if his administration is blameless.
Bala Mohammed, who also serves as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, claimed that the APC-led Federal Government was using state institutions to persecute political opponents. He expressed concern over his situation, highlighting his immunity as a governor amid ongoing investigations.
