The National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, emphasized that the military’s efforts have been crucial in maintaining Nigeria’s resilience amid ongoing security challenges. Speaking during the inauguration of the Joint Doctrine and Welfare Centre Nigeria in Abuja, Ribadu noted improvements in the security situation since the current leadership took office.
He stated that the armed forces are effectively defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity and democracy, with significant successes against terrorists and insurgents. Ribadu highlighted a newfound sense of safety, allowing Nigerians to travel freely in areas that were once deemed unsafe.
While acknowledging that the country still faces challenges, he dismissed claims that large parts of Nigeria are in captivity, attributing such narratives to critics. Ribadu pointed out that citizens, particularly in rural areas, are benefiting from government reforms, with farmers returning to their farms and businesses reopening.
The NSA called for innovation and collaboration within the military to enhance effectiveness, aligning with the government’s renewed hope agenda. The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, supported this vision, stressing the importance of a unified approach to tackle complex security threats, as no single organization can address them alone.
