The All Progressives Congress (APC) has openly welcomed the possibility of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following recent comments by the governor that suggest he may be considering a political realignment.

Speaking during a constituency event in Ukanafun Local Government Area, Governor Eno made a metaphorical statement likening the PDP to an aircraft with technical problems, prompting speculation about his future political direction.

“If you were booked to fly Ibom Airline and it suddenly developed a fault before takeoff, wouldn’t you board another available aircraft to reach your destination?” he asked attendees, sparking discussion on whether a switch to the APC is imminent.

Reacting to his remarks, the APC described the PDP as a failing political vehicle and declared that it is prepared to accept Governor Eno if he chooses to make the transition. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, issued a statement on Wednesday affirming that the APC is “ready and equipped” to accommodate the governor.

“Our aircraft is in top condition and fully prepared to fly the governor and his team to their desired destination,” Morka stated, extending what many view as a clear invitation to Eno.

The development adds to ongoing tensions within the PDP, which has recently experienced a number of high-profile defections, including that of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. Political observers say the growing wave of exits may signal deeper instability within the party as internal crises persist.

Governor Eno has not publicly confirmed any intention to leave the PDP, but his comments have intensified speculation across the political landscape in Akwa Ibom and beyond.
