At least 15 people have been killed in renewed violence by gunmen in the Bokkos and Mangu local government areas of Plateau State. The attacks occurred on Thursday night, targeting the Manja community in Chakfem kingdom of Mangu and the Tangur community in Bokkos.

Reports indicate that the assailants struck the communities at different times, with the Tangur attack happening around 9 PM, when residents were settling down for the night. In Mangu, the assault occurred earlier in the evening.

Sources confirmed that seven individuals were killed in Mangu, while eight died in Bokkos. Eyewitnesses reported that the gunmen opened fire indiscriminately and broke into homes during the attacks.

Shohotden Mathias Ibrahim, Director of Culture at the Mwaghavul Development Association and director of the IDP (Pilot Science) Camp in Mangu, verified the death toll from the Mangu attack, stating that the community is currently tense.

Efforts to reach community leaders in Bokkos for further comments have been unsuccessful. The Plateau State Police Command’s spokesperson, Alfred Alabo, has not responded to inquiries regarding the incidents as of the time of this report.
