President Bola Tinubu has postponed his planned trip to Ogun State to visit Jos, Plateau State, following recent attacks that left dozens dead.
The decision came after a meeting with Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who briefed him on the security situation. The President is expected to commiserate with victims and assess the crisis firsthand.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has ordered the deployment of mobile police units and other tactical teams to the state to restore order.
Governor Mutfwang said security forces are yet to arrest those behind the attack, adding that their identities and motives remain unclear. He also disclosed that some looting incidents were recorded after the curfew was relaxed, though security operatives have since brought the situation under control.
The violence has heightened tension in parts of Jos, with some residents and businesses affected. Authorities say additional security measures have been put in place to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
