In a significant move, President Bola Tinubu has submitted a budget proposal of N1.48 trillion for the Rivers State Government to the National Assembly. This proposal comes in response to the recent Supreme Court ruling that nullified the state’s 2025 budget, alongside the ongoing emergency rule in the region.
The proposed budget allocates funds across several key sectors, with ₦324 billion designated for infrastructure, ₦166 billion for health, ₦75.6 billion for education, and ₦31.4 billion for agriculture. President Tinubu emphasized the importance of the budget, highlighting that the agriculture sector alone is expected to generate approximately 6,000 jobs.
In his appeal to the National Assembly, the President urged lawmakers to prioritize the swift passage of the budget, underscoring the need for immediate action to benefit the people of Rivers State.
