President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election, describing the outcome as “an affirmation of visionary leadership” and promising closer collaboration between the federal government and Anambra State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Soludo the winner of the recent governorship election, in which he swept all 21 local government areas. In a statement released on Sunday, Tinubu praised voters, security agencies, and INEC for the peaceful conduct of the election, urging Soludo to be “magnanimous in victory.”
Tinubu commended the new INEC chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, and emphasized the need for the commission to maintain high standards in future elections. He noted that Soludo’s victory makes him the third governor in Anambra’s political history to win a second term.
“I must also congratulate the people of Anambra State, the security agencies, and INEC on the peaceful and successful conduct of the governorship election. Professor Soludo’s re-election is a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under his guidance,” Tinubu stated.
Recalling his visit to Anambra in May, where he inaugurated several projects initiated by Soludo, Tinubu expressed admiration for the governor’s approach to governance. He highlighted Soludo’s discipline, brilliance, and fresh perspective, stating, “Under him, Anambra is living up to its motto as the Light of the Nation.”
The President assured Soludo of unwavering support from the federal government and encouraged him to seek cooperation from his political opponents. He expressed a desire for continued collaboration, noting that Soludo’s victory reflects the vitality of Nigeria’s political system.
Soludo’s re-election further solidifies APGA’s dominance in Anambra politics, extending its influence as he embarks on a tenure set to run until March 2026.
