Samson Osagie, the suspended Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Edo State, has firmly denied allegations of financial misconduct. His suspension, announced on February 5, 2025, alongside Damian Lawani, Chairman of the Edo State Local Government Service Commission, was ordered by Governor Monday Okpehbolo due to alleged official and financial infractions.

In a statement, Osagie expressed his intention to defend himself and clear his name, stating, “I am not and was never involved in any financial dealing with anyone nor committed any financial infraction of any kind.” He also noted that he had not been confronted with any allegations prior to his suspension.

The governor’s decision included the formation of a committee to investigate the allegations against both individuals. Osagie emphasized his readiness to prove his innocence and protect his hard-earned reputation.
