Amid rising tensions, Kaduna-based Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has alleged that he is on a U.S. list for elimination connected to Boko Haram. He made this claim during a sermon, which has gained traction on social media.
According to Gumi, he received a call from an unnamed Abuja official who informed him of his inclusion on a government list for assassination, purportedly in response to recent U.S. airstrikes in Nigeria targeting ISWAP militants.
Gumi criticized the foreign military presence, arguing that it exacerbates insecurity and causes civilian casualties. He contended that such interventions incorrectly label local figures as terrorists.
His comments come on the heels of heightened scrutiny following U.S. military actions in Nigeria, reigniting controversial discussions about foreign involvement in national security issues
